Jim Newman

Jim Newman is Managing Partner of Clean Rig Power, overseeing development and operations.  An oilfield services veteran with over 35 years of experience in well servicing, interventions and abandonment, Jim began his career by cofounding Triple N Services, a family-owned Permian Basin plugging contractor.  After selling Triple N to Basic Energy Services in 2008, Jim joined the management team at Basic and retired as Executive Vice President of Operations in 2020. 

 

Jim obtained his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and is a registered professional engineer (Texas).  He is a member of the Texas Tech Academy of Petroleum Engineering, Texas Tech Petroleum Industry Advisory Board, Permian Basin Petroleum Association and is active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers. 

Steve Newman

Steve Newman is a Partner in Clean Rig Power, managing development and implementation.  Steve brings over 30 years of experience in well service rig operations, maintenance and refurbishment in the Permian Basin and the Rockies.  A co-founder of Triple N Services, he joined Basic Energy Services in 2008 when Basic bought Triple N, and retired after 12 years as a manager and Vice-President of Basic.  He is currently involved in oil field wellsite consulting in the Permian Basin and internationally.  

Fred Newman

Fred Newman is President of Development for Clean Rig.  Fred has extensive experience designing and patenting oil field devices, including the SplitShot casing cutter and Unitrak, the electronic well service rich telemetry platform.  He has owned and operated a well abandonment business, a drilling business, has been an independent oil and gas operator and worked for Key Energy Services and Schlumberger. 

 

He obtained a B.S. in Physics, has an honorary Doctorate in Science and Technology and holds almost 100 patents.  He has authored numerous papers for the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Southwest Petroleum Short Course.  He was inducted into the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum Hall of Fame in 2021. 

Michael Kuhl

Michael Kuhl is the Clean Rig’s engineering consulting partner.  He is a mechanical engineer and Engineering Director at Unique Technical Services, LLC.  His career includes innovation around electric vehicles and energy storage, including high voltage lithium batter packs, automotive rated ultra capacitor modules, PEM fuel cell systems, and complete electric vehicles, including passenger cars, transit buses and Class 8 heavy duty vehicles. Michael graduated from Stony Brook University in 2008.  

Glenn Schaller

Glenn Schaller is the Director of Business Development for Clean Rig.  Glenn has over 10 years of experience in oil and gas manufacturing and oilfield service companies, including launching a service company in Vaca Muerta, Argentina. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Management.
